Understanding the DSLR Camera- Three things that you need to know

Three things that you need to know, three things that you need to know... Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rjAQl4wr6Q

Aperture- How much light that is allowed into the lens.

Measured by a number called the "F" stop. The bigger the aperture, the more light the lens will let in. The smaller the aperture, the less light. F1.2 (brightest) - F22 (darkest)

Smaller the "F" stop number, the more light. Larger the "F" stop number, the less light.

Depth Of Field- Background out of focus, and subject in focus. Creating a shallow depth of field allows for a more creative and interesting picture. Achieved by using a lens opened up all the way with a big aperture.

Shutter Speed- How quick the shutter opens to let light into the camera. Measured by a number as well.

The "Click" sound of the camera taking the picture is the camera shutter working to allow light into the camera!

ISO- Boost up the camera ISO number to allow for more light in darker situations. But always remember, the higher the number, the more "grain" to your image. We like our photos and video to have no grain at all! We want the clearest photos/videos possible! Keep this ISO number as low as it can go!
